What is Micro TESA?
Micro TESA is a highly precise surgical sperm retrieval technique used in selected male infertility cases. It uses an operating microscope to identify and extract seminiferous tubules that are most likely to contain sperm, especially in men with non-obstructive azoospermia.
The Process
Micro TESA is performed under anesthesia in a controlled surgical setting. During the procedure, the testis is carefully examined using microsurgical magnification to identify areas with the highest chance of sperm production.
Small tissue samples are then retrieved while minimizing damage to surrounding testicular tissue. The collected tissue is immediately processed in the embryology laboratory to isolate viable sperm for use in ICSI treatment.
Advantages
Micro TESA offers a higher sperm retrieval rate than conventional TESE, particularly in challenging non-obstructive azoospermia cases. It also helps preserve healthy testicular tissue by allowing more targeted and precise sperm retrieval.
